*********NB REPLY SLIP. ALL TO COMPLETE AND RETURN BY FRIDAY 13th******
Dear Parents and Choristers,
Welcome to 2012. It was a hot boot camp in more ways than one and all enjoyed the air-conditioned bowling alley and lukewarm sea yesterday afternoon. We’re in for a bumper 30th birthday year.
CHOIR CALENDAR
The choir calendar is included. Please study this carefully and ensure that choir engagements are noted in your diary.
Please note that newsletters addressed to parents AND choristers. Please make sure that your child also reads the letters and notes down choir commitments in their own diaries. ‘My mom did not tell me’ is not an acceptable excuse.
Be reminded that we rehearse EVERY Wednesday and EVERY Friday during school terms. ALL rehearsals are compulsory. Yvette Peo should be informed of a child’s absence (preferably by SMS) before the rehearsal. Please note that you need to furnish a reason for the absence.
PUNCTUALITY
Rehearsals start punctually. Please ensure that your child is dropped off at least 5 minutes before the starting time.
COLLECTION AFTER REHEARSALS AND PARENT SUPERVISION DUTY
We rehearse at Cillié High School FREE OF CHARGE and are 100% dependent on their goodwill. The teacher on duty (who has been at school since at least 7 that morning, and also has a family to take care of) cannot leave until the last person has left the premises. Please do not abuse their goodwill by being late to collect children.
As rehearsals often finish 10 to 15 minutes early, we request your arrival to collect your child AT LEAST 15 minutes before the official finishing time. If you are going to be late, please have the courtesy to phone Yvette Peo immediately, so that she can inform the parent on duty and make alternate arrangements if needed.
In order to ensure that all our children are safe, a parent duty timetable (included) has been compiled. The parent on duty is expected to stay until the last child has been collected. Please note this responsibility in your diary and ensure alternative arrangements are in place if you cannot fulfill your duty.
CHOIR CONTACTS
Please communicate via SMS / e-mail where possible. Program the following details onto your cell phone for easy reference.
CLOTHING
Please ensure that ALL girls have brought their skirts for us to ensure that they are still fitting properly. Order forms for additional items will follow as soon as we’ve received the quotes from suppliers.
CATERING EQUIPMENT
We are in need of our own catering equipment for concerts and functions. If you have any of the following that you might want to get rid of, we’ll be more than grateful.
- Coffee plungers (Bodum or similar)
- Coffee filter machines
- Sugar bowls
- Milk jugs
- Trays
- Large glass flower vases
MONEY MATTERS
Thank you to everyone who elected to take advantage of discounts offered for early fee payment. If you elected to pay monthly, your first payment is due by 31 January. You will receive a printed statement reflecting the current status of your account shortly.
Please note:
An account will be considered to be in default if a payment is more than 14 days overdue. Membership will be suspended immediately (members will not be allowed to attend rehearsals) and terminated if the matter is not corrected within three rehearsals. All fees paid to date will be forfeited. Please contact Yvette Peo immediately for alternate arrangements if you have a problem.
To ensure that you do not forget to make your monthly payment, we have preloaded reminder sms’s on the automated sms system. You can also preload your monthly payments via the ‘postdated payment function’ on your Internet Banking.

Making use of home hosting not only makes a choir tour affordable (yes, the Europeans have the same economic pressures as us), but is also an enriching experience that often leads to lifelong friendships and opportunities.
Please complete the attached reply slip, even if you are not able to host this time.
Yours in music,
Henriette
